About this Project
LKB was team leader on this inspection and evaluation of 37 existing culverts within Rockland County, NY. The culverts ranged in size from four foot diameter concrete and metal pipes to 18 foot wide steel beam and concrete structures. The culverts had not been inspected since 1999 and were to be inspected for damage related to the recent Hurricane Irene which had devastated the area. The LKB team inspected, evaluated and provided full inventory and inspection reports over a two-month period. The county required specific detailed reports for submittal to FEMA for reimbursement of funds for hurricane damage to the various properties. The team issued structural and safety flags requiring immediate action and provided hydraulic evaluations and load ratings as needed. Full reports for each culvert were prepared including cost estimates for any recommended repairs.
