LKB has been retained by NYSDOT to provide construction inspection services for this maintenance repair project on highway bridges in Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Bronx, and Kings Counties, New York. The bridges included in this project carry Expressways over local streets and/or local streets over the expressways. Maintenance repair work in the form of Work Orders is ongoing and includes elements such as bridge concrete and steel superstructures supporting reinforced concrete decks and/or substructure elements consisting of reinforced concrete, asphalt and concrete removals and placement or masonry restoration. The bridge elements requiring repairs include bridge bearings, pier columns, deck joints, deck slabs, deck wearing surface, primary structural steel members, secondary structural steel members, bridge railing, sidewalk, abutments and wingwalls. Painting of various steel members is included as required.
LKB’s services include providing inspection services to include, on-site field testing of materials and overseeing all construction activities, including field measurement and collection of data, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the contract plans provided for each work order, reviewing contractors’ submissions of monthly and final estimates, progress reports, and preparation of record plans showing all field changes from the contract plans. The inspection services also include overseeing all the proper placement of all work zone traffic control. LKB is responsible for monitoring contract progress and maintaining all records in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK), including SiteManager and EBO.
