SCADA System Improvements-construction inspection

About this Project

LKB was retained by Nassau County Department of Public Works to provide construction inspection services for the installation of a new SCADA system in 65 pump stations across Nassau County and the Bay Park and Cedar Creek Waste Water Treatment Facilities. The scope of work included the installation of new control and monitoring equipment.

SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, which is a system of software and hardware elements that allows industrial organizations to:

  • Control industrial processes locally or at remote locations
  • Monitor, gather, and process real-time data
  • Directly interact with devices such as sensors, valves, pumps, motors, and more through human-machine interface (HMI) software
  • Record events into a log file

SCADA systems are crucial for industrial organizations since they help to maintain efficiency, process data for smarter decisions, and communicate system issues to help mitigate downtime.

Construction inspection services included contractor coordination and inspection of all contractor’s operations. In addition, LKB provided design document interpretation, progress schedule coordination, electronic submittal review and coordination on Submittal Exchange, change order estimating and processing, monthly progress reports, and bi-monthly progress meetings. The project is currently in the close-out phase.
