About this Project
LKB was retained by the Town of Hempstead to provide engineering services as part of the Town’s Community Development Revitalization Program, which included the design and construction of various streetscape beautification projects located in Elmont, NY. Engineering
services included topographic survey, streetscape design, layout, grading and drainage and landscaping design, preparation of contract documents, assistance to the village during the bid phase, and construction inspection services during construction.
Streetscape improvements included the provision of new decorative pre-cast brick sidewalks, new curbs, concrete pavements and driveway aprons, handicap ramps, decorative street lighting, trees, and site furniture such as ornamental benches, planters and tree grates. General and site inspection services during construction included attendance at meetings, shop drawing review, inspection, completion of MURK daily reports, coordination with NYSDOT with respect to lane and shoulder closures, field takeoff of contractor’s work, approval of contractor’s payments, assistance with punch list items and final payment. Reconstruction limits included Hempstead Turnpike between Plainfield Avenue and Holland Avenue, Elmont Road and School Road, and Belmont Blvd. and Westgate.
