About this Project
LKB was retained by the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to perform a traffic and parking operations study for the existing Jones Beach Parking Fields 1-6, and the toll booths located on Meadowbrook Parkway and Wantagh Parkway within Jones Beach State Park. The study also included investigating the possibility of utilizing electronic toll collection systems at the individual parking fields to allow for use of various forms of payments including cash, EZ-Pass, Empire Pass and credit card. Under this concept, providing collection at the fields themselves would eliminate the need for the remotely located toll booths. LKB provided preliminary and final design services for reconfiguring the parking lots to accommodate additional toll booths and future electronic toll collection at the individual lots.
