Theresa Heneveld PE

Vice President of Environmental Engineering

Ms. Heneveld is the Vice President of Environmental Engineering with 40 years of experience in the design of landfill capping and closure projects, landfill lining systems, landfill gas control systems, groundwater remediation projects, hazardous waste site remediation projects and water/wastewater collection and treatment systems. She has also been responsible for the preparation of hazardous waste site remedial investigations and feasibility studies, the preparation of documentation for solid waste management facility permits for both landfills and transfer station facilities ,and the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements.

Her responsibilities have involved the preparation of design plans, specifications, engineer’s estimates, and final bid documents, as well as engineering services during construction and public relations. Ms. Heneveld’s experience includes the preparation of contract documents for both single and multiple prime contracts, procured under NYS General Municipal Law for municipalities on Long Island and in New York City.

Ms. Heneveld’s recent experience includes the management of Post-Closure Operation, Maintenance and Monitoring programs at several landfills in NYS, including the Brookfield Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue and Fountain Avenue Landfills for the New York City Departments of Parks and Recreation and Environmental Protection. Ms. Heneveld’s experience also includes providing similar services at other former inactive hazardous waste disposal sites listed on both the NYS Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites (NYSRIHWDS), as well as the National Priority List (NPL) of Federal Superfund Sites.

Ms. Heneveld has experience in coordinating with the USEPA, the NYSDEC, and the NYSDOH, as well as FEMA and the NYSDHSES (for reimbursement of funds for both Hurricanes Irene and Sandy). In addition, Ms. Heneveld has provided technical assistance during the negotiation of consent decrees and provided engineering services required during the process of delisting/reclassifying sites from the Superfund NPL and the NYSRIHWDS.

Ms. Heneveld has also been responsible for all aspects of project grant funding and financing, assisting municipalities in obtaining funds through the NYS Environmental Quality Bond Act, Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act, zero-interest and low-interest loans through the NYS Clean Water State Revolving Fund and reimbursement of funds from FEMA/NYSDHSES for Hurricanes Irene and Sandy.
