LKB Families Proudly Accept 2022 Carle C. Conway Scholarship

April 11, 2022

The Carle C. Conway Scholarship Foundation honored five recipients this year from LKB!

The Carle C. Conway Scholarship Foundation, named in honor of a former chairman of Continental Can Company (CCC), provides financial assistance to aid higher education for the children of the employees of CCC and its subsidiaries. Since its establishment in 1950, the Foundation has awarded over 1,000 scholarships and grants worth a total of more than $15 million.

Dating back to 1959, LKB was traded on the American stock exchange under the name “Viatech” and continued as a publicly owned company under this name through 1994 when a major stockholder of Viatech purchased Continental Plastic Containers (the only active division of CCC) and changed its name from Viatech to Continental Can Co. The Carle C. Conway scholarship was available to the children of its employees.

Being a wholly owned subsidiary of CCC, LKB employees’ children have competed for this scholarship and continued through today even though LKB’s management had purchased LKB from CCC in 1999. We are fortunate to have this scholarship continue to be available to us and once again, to have this opportunity available to the 2022 graduates. The scholarship stipend is $10,000 per year for a total of $40,000 for four years.

To be qualified, employees must have 6 months of continuous service with LKB prior to the close of the annual scholarship competition for their children to be eligible. Winners must remain employed by the company until the time the scholarship is awarded and announced by the President of the Foundation. All Conway scholarship applicants must take the SAT or ACT no later than March of their senior year of high school study. Students who have taken the SAT or ACT during their junior year or during their senior year before March are not required to take the test again but may do so if they wish.

Congratulations to the families of LKB that have been honored with this scholarship award. We wish all your children a successful future.
